She just hopes the casualties won't include the one man she's risking everything for. . .

But the shadow side of the City of Angels turns out to be more treacherous than they ever imagined. When their investigation leads to a confrontation with the demon Belial, Jack learns that he wasn't the only thing to escape from Hell. Now it’s up to him and Pete to track and eliminate an evil older than the Black itself—before it turns L.A. into Hell on Earth. And destroys life as they know it back at home…

The grave is one wrong step away.

The illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn—and wary of love. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband makes her crave his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. Nephilim. Half-breed offspring, born from mortals and angels…biblical legends, giants, that jeopardized mankind. Welcome to my world where anything can and does exist, and new demons are spawned at random.

But Nephilim aren’t new, they come straight from the Bible.

When men began to increase in number on earth and daughters were born to them, 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3Then the LORD said, ‘My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is a mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years.’ 4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:1-4

There are many theories as it relates to who and what the “sons of God” and the Nephilim are.

Theory One: The “sons of God” were fallen angels. Many believe that the Nephilim were what was thought to be the giants in the Bible because it was thought they were the offspring of angels and human women.

Theory Two: The “sons of God” were probably not human, not even born on earth. Ancient Aliens, anyone? lol

Theory Three: The “sons of God” were nothing more than righteous men, as opposed to the earthly non-righteous individuals during those sinful days before the great flood.

Theory Four: The “sons of God” are a hybrid race that is distinctly different from us humans, but sexually compatible with human reproduction. In any event, the “sons of God” are specifically set apart from the “daughters of men”, so they were obviously a separate race and their offspring were the Nephilim.

Theory Five: The “sons of God” were other created men. It is widely accepted by Biblical believers that Adam and Eve were the only humans first created by God. However, the Bible does not detail or describe every individual on earth, not even every important person on earth to Him. Only significant situations and the people involved with those situations are included in Biblical Texts. There is no certainty that God created only Adam and Eve. For all we know, he could have created a whole nation of people, but only Adam and Eve were important.

Off topic: I probably could have found more theories had I kept searching. I figured this was more than enough. ;-)

The book of Job suggests that the sons of God were angelic in nature. Job 1:6 “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.” And again in Job 2:1, “Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.”

The Grigori were also considered fallen angels who had mated with mortal women, which gave birth to a hybrid race known as the Nephilim. In the Book of Enoch, the Grigori were known as the “Watchers”, which were angels that had been sent to earth to do nothing more than watch over God’s human creation. Enoch details how the Grigori began to lust after human women, marry them and lived among mortals. Their children were purported to be giant savages that endanger humankind by pillaging the earth. They were corrupt and taught the mortals the necessities of civilization that God had kept secret. According to Jude 1:6, God has bound the Grigori on the Earth until Judgment Day.

So, were the Nephilim the offspring of the “sons of God” and the “daughters of men”? Were these “sons of God” fallen angels on the side of Satan? Or could they be angels watching and living among us that have become fascinated and enraptured by God’s mortal creation, not fallen on Satan’s side, but just fallen from God’s celestial design?

Of course, all of this is assuming one believes in Biblical principles. What do you think?

The idea of Nephilim interests me, but instead of having “giants” represent Nephilim, I took a more unassuming approach in Pandora’s Box, book one Road to Hell series, available now through Decadent Publishing and your online e-book publishers (Amazon, Smashwords, etc.). Pandora’s Box Excerpt:

“May I?” He held up the medical supplies.

She nodded and watched as he doused gauze with antiseptic. “Dr. Nix at your service,” he said with a grin, two adorable dimples charming her where words failed.

Madison rolled her eyes, and tipped her head to the side to give him better access. He brushed her hair off her neck, back behind her shoulder. Such a simple gesture, yet it felt terribly personal. The air grew thick and sticky with her awareness of him. She shifted in her seat and crossed her legs.

Madison stared into his eyes. Green, she thought, his eyes were green, gorgeous and intense, with ridiculously long eyelashes women would fantasize about. If they didn’t, they should. A flicker of compassion, concern, and something else she couldn’t identify flashed in his eyes.

“Ready?” he asked.

The husky tenor of his voice forced her gaze to shift to his mouth. Nice, sexy lips, designed for kissing. She gave a mental shake but couldn’t resist wondering how his mouth would feel on hers.

“Madison?” Humor deepened his voice, a touch of a smile tilted the edges of the lips she’d been fantasizing about, and she realized she still stared at them. “You ready?” he asked again, and her eyes widened in embarrassment over her foolish stupor.

She swallowed hard. “Yeah.” She whispered past the lump in her throat and forced her vision to lock on the wall over his shoulder. Good God, what was wrong with her? Her pulse throbbed like crazy, and she felt woozy. Loss of blood! Must be why she reacted that way. No other explanation made sense.

Even though the antiseptic stung like hell, the gentle touch coming from such a gruff man surprised her. “It’s not bad,” he said, dabbing the blood away. “Just a nick.”

Well, she could nix the blood loss theory. Exhaustion and stress were the only other excuses she could come up with. “I’ve suffered worse.” Her voice sounded off, kind of hoarse. She tried to clear her throat delicately, but he must have noticed her unease, because his perceptive eyes met hers. Again, she thought she caught the edge of concern reflected in their green depths.

“This isn’t the first time he’s attacked you?”

“No. It’s the first time he’s tried to seriously kill me, though.” She sighed as she closed her eyes, ready to give up fighting, the sudden tears threatening to fall. Okay, woozy and acting strange because of strain…not because of him. Seriously, as far as first impressions went, she wasn’t impressed.

Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with a need for vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs…and time is running out.

Nicolai the Vampire is renowned for his virility, but in a cruel twist of fate “The Dark Seducer” has become a sex slave in the kingdom of Delfina—stripped of his precious timepiece and his memory. All that remains is a primal need for freedom, revenge—and the only woman who can help him.
When the wanton vampire summons Jane Parker, she is helpless to obey. She's drawn to his dark sexuality and into his magical realm. But for this human, all is not a fairy tale. For saving Nicolai could mean losing the only man she's ever craved

Vampires, and werewolves, and demons, oh my.

Rhiannon thought facing off against a deranged child vampire was the most dangerous task she would ever have to undertake, but she’s about to discover making a deal with a demon is far, far worse. Sent forward into another reality, one in which vampires are now dominating nearly extinct humans, she realizes the sooner she returns to her vampire lover, Disco, the better.

Unfortunately, time changes a lot of things; including those most trusted around her. When she’s faced with a loss and betrayal unlike any she has ever known, her focus shifts from severing the debt between the demon that wants to kill her, to exacting a revenge that will bring forth consequences she never could have fathomed. By reaching out to the darkness lingering within her, she’ll find the strength to push forward despite the circumstances that would see her dead and buried.
After all, when it’s all said and done, all that she has left to lose is her soul

I am so delighted (and a little scared) to have the pleasure of interviewing
Reyes Farrow
Photo courtesy of Tricia Schmitt aka Pickyme
I have been dying to chat with him ever since I read his stories.  I have a huge crush, but probably should not mention it...(NO not mention it.)  He is the powerful entity of Charley Davidson's dreams in First Grave on the Right, and he has us playing Hide and Seek in the new Novel
Second Grave on the Left.
Which Darynda has been so kind to offer a GIVEAWAY.
Signed Hardback!  *Squeals

Before we get to Reyes I would like to introduce you to the woman responsible for telling their story.
Darynda Jones

Winner of the 2009 Golden Heart® for Best Paranormal Romance for her manuscript FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT, Darynda was born spinning tales of dashing damsels and heroes in distress for any unfortunate soul who happened by, annoying man and beast alike. After the Golden Heart final, she pimped herself as best she could, landed an amazing agent and sold to St. Martin’s Press in a three-book deal. Darynda lives in the Land of Enchantment, also known as New Mexico, with her husband of more than 25 years and two beautiful sons, aka the Mighty, Mighty Jones Boys. She can be found at

Without further ado.  Please welcome
 Reyes Farrow

Pimpin': Nice to meet you.  *reaches out hand then thinks twice.  I know you don't have a lot of time, since you are currently in hiding, so I will try to make this quick.

Reyes:  *nods*

*wishing you could see him in person. The black robe appears as a mist around him. Eerily sexy. His eyes piercing and his hands look quiet "capable"

Pimpin':  You probably get this all the time, or well....maybe not.  What's it like to be the son of Satan?

Reyes:  Dangerous.

Pimpin':  Is he a caring father?  (maybe a dumb question)

Reyes:  As caring as a rattlesnake. He had high hopes for me and I turned my back on him and his war. He’s a little miffed.

Pimpin':  Who's your mother?

Reyes:  I was created, not born. My mother is the stars in the heavens, the minerals in the earth, and the energy from a thousand supernovae. I was forged in the fires of hell for a reason. While a perfect Being made my father, I was made with the most imperfect of intentions. I have a few flaws as a result.

*Mouth drops open in awe!  Clears throat...No flaws that I can see!

Pimpin':  Where or how did you get the tats?

Reyes:  They were there WHEN I was created and they are WHY I was created. They’re a map to the gates of hell and without them, my father can’t navigate the void between heaven and hell. Which could explain why he’s a little miffed.

Pimpin':  How did you know when Charley was being born?, and does she have an incorporeal body?

Reyes:  I felt a shift in the universe like a summer breeze rushing across my skin when she was sent to Earth, and I knew it was time to become human. She is like energy, pure and powerful, and her essence is warm and intoxicating. Her presence calms me. All the hate and despair that still lingers in my marrow melts, and I feel absolved. Worthy.

*heart melts and I swoon a little more. Fans face (only makes it worse) crosses legs

Reyes:  And, yes, she has an incorporeal body. It is more powerful than the sun, and when she learns to harness that power, to use it as it was meant to be used, she will be a force with more potential than imaginable.

Pimpin':  Why do you call Charley Dutch?

Reyes:  She perceives it as Dutch. The word is actually ancient Aramaic. It means seeker, because that’s what she is, the seeker of souls. She just doesn’t know it yet, not that part.

Pimpin':  What do you think about Garrett's advances on Charley?

Reyes:  Some men aim to summit a mountain that is far too high. Those same men often die on their journey, the quest too ambitious. Garrett’s aim is way off.
*swallows hard.  Poor Garrett

Pimpin':  Do you know Rocket Man's real name?

 Reyes:  Yes.

Pimpin':  What do you have on right now under your cloak?

Reyes:  Would you like to see for yourself?

When I wake up he is gone.  I am left with a feeling of emptiness, and I wonder if that's how Charley feels every time he leaves.  Despite being the Son of Satan he is very pleasant in a I could kill you in an instant kind of way.  Wherever you are Reyes.  I thank you, and hope you come back soon.

Book Drop Tuesday. August 16, 2011 Edition

It's HERE!  Second Grave on the Left has FINALLY arrived.
Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper Extraordinaire, is back in this sexy, suspenseful novel of supernatural shenanigans

When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously? Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.
Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?
